In April 1945 the RAF attacked the "Eagles Nest" Hitler's mountain top castle in Berchtesgaden, nearly a final gesture in the European Air War. The Lancaster had become the mainstay of Bomber Command fighting six years of air combat in Europe.

The heavily damaged Lancaster UL-M2 is joined in the early morning sunlight by escorting Spitfires of 504 squadron surrounding and protecting the Lancaster. The Lancaster UL-M2 completed 140 operational missions more than any other Lancaster.

Their are two print an RAF AP edition 8/60 signed by Jim Bell, Sir Hugh Dundas, Laddie Lucas,  Bill Ried, Ernest Rodley and Norman Scrivener. This print was issued with a companion print "Winters Welcome" signed by Hamish Mahaddie and J.B Tait.

The ANZAC AP edition 11/15 is signed by Al Deere, A. Doubleday, R. Kingsford-Smith, Bill Reid and W.R.Cundy. This print was issued with a companion print "Mosquito Mission" signed by R.B. Cowper and M. Davies.
