As dawn broke on June 6, 1944 the first landings took place in Normandy, assaulting Hitlers Fortress Europe and the Atlantic Wall. The night before parachute landings had been made behind the German lines on the beach.
Crossing the Normandy beaches C-47 Dakotas of the 438th Troop Carrier Group towing CG-4 Waco gliders head inland escorted closely by P-51B's of the 354th Fighter Group. Below the landings are underway as landing craft mass on the beaches.
This is a three print set comprising the main print with two companion prints, "Crash Landing" and "Into Battle". The print is signed by Warren Emerson, Clayton Cross, Sid Harwell, William King, Maurice Long and Miles Wagner. The American Air Museum edition is additionally signed by Bob Hope, Charlton Heston, Lord Bramall and Bob Gates.
