After Italy joined the Axis in 1940 her fleet had to be negated. It was critical to maintain the Royal Navies supremacy in the Mediterranean to protect Malta and convoys to North Africa. This task fell to twenty Swordfish taking off under cover of darkness from the carrier Illustrious. The attack was a success taking out half the Italian Fleets capital ships for the loss of two Swordfish.  This was the turning point when carrier-based aircraft would become dominant against capital ships.

This is a very rare print one of twenty which were signed by 15 survivors of the raid on Taranto. It comes with a special COA issued by the Military Gallery.
