A group of Lancasters gather as night falls over Lincolnshire, forming up for another raid on Germany. The Lancaster illustrated UL-1 was one of only a handful to complete 100 missions.

The average age of Bomber Command pilots and crew was 22. In 1943 average expectancy was to complete just five missions, with one in six expected to complete their first tour of 30 flights. Losses were horrendous with 55,000 killed out of 125,000. For outstanding bravery Bomber Command pilots and crew won twenty-three Victoria Crosses.

The Collectors Edition Double Remarque is signed by ten Lancaster pilots and crew including James Tate. 'Willie' Tate flew in the first RAF Bomber attack on Berlin, he had numerous command positions including 617 Squadron and its attack on the Tirpitz. Uniquely he is the only RAF airman to win both the DSO and DFC.

The matted VC Edition has all the signatures of the Collectors Edition plus five VC winners' signatures in the matting, Norman Jackson, Leonard Trent, Rod Learoyd, Leonard Cheshire and Bill Reid.
