Where Eagles Gathered by Robert Taylor - Including original pencil drawing
In March 1944 B-24's of the 448th Bomber Group head for the Luftwaffe facilities at Limoges Airport in Western France as part of the softening up process that proceeded D-Day. Awaiting the B-24's were Bf-109's of JG2, who attacked slashing into the bombers. Fortunately, the B-24's had an elite escort, Don Blakeslee's 4th Fighter Group "The Eagles".
The print illustrates Steve Pisanos in his P-51B breaking up an attack by Bf-109's on a B-24 which is damaged but still flying, with a chance to make it home to the UK. The print is signed by Steve Pisanos and Gunther Nordenholz
Print number 1/10 comes with an original pencil drawing by Robert Taylor of a Bf-109 which is signed by Walter Schuck and Erwin Leykauf. It also includes a cased Air Combat Paintings Volume VI book, including a signed bookplate with a superb collection of pilot signatures.
