The main force is back at base, the ground crews scan the skies for stragglers. Damaged by Luftwaffe fighters and intense flak a lone Lancaster toils for home with parts of flaps. elevators missing and one engine down on power. 

The Lancaster has made it back over the English Countryside but the crew still has to land the damaged Lancaster to fight another day.

The print is signed by two Victoria Cross winners, Bill Reid and Leonard Cheshire. It is also signed by Willie Tait who followed Leonard Cheshire as commander of the famous 617 squadron. The forth signatory is Dave Shannon a pilot who flew in "Operation Chastise" for the 617 squadron.
