With access to the Atlantic shipping lanes through newly captured French ports the Kriegsmarine set up bases in North West France. These bases were under constant attack by the Allies to try and lessen the impact of submarine attacks on convoys. To counter these attacks the Luftwaffe established massive aerial defenses.
The print shows Focke Wulf 190’s greeting inbound VII U-boats after a long patrol in the North Atlantic. The print is signed by two Luftwaffe pilots, Adolf Dickfeld and Erich Rudorffer and four U-boat captains, Siegfried Koitschka, Erhard Nippa, Heinrich Schroeteler and Helmut Witte.
This is one of the few Fw190 prints that Robert Taylor did.
