In Defense of the Reich shows four Me262's blasting off from an airfield in Bavaria, in the latter stages of the war in Europe. The small group of highly talented Luftwaffe fighter pilots flying the Me262 fought a rear guard action in Defense of the Reich.
The print is signed by Adolf Galland the leader of JV44 and one of his chosen pilots for JV44 Walter Krupinski. The print is also signed by Hermann Buchner who also flew Me262's with Walter Nowotny's squadron. Nowotny with over 250 aerial victories was credited with developing fighter tactics for the Me262, he perished in one due to a recurring problem, engine failure.
