D-Day "The Airborne Assault" is a three print set. As dawn broke on June 6th 1944 troop carry aircraft, many towing gliders and escorted by fighters stretched across the Channel from Britain to France. On that day they landed 20,000 men into the Normandy beachhead battlefield. These men joined the elite airborne troops who parachuted in the evening before to take vital bridges and secure positions.

The print is signed by four pilots from the 355th fighter squadron flying escort, Warren Emerson, Bill King, Clayton Cross and Maurice Long. C-47 Dakota pilot Sid Harwell who dropped 101 Airborne Division troops near St. Mere-Englise at 00.40 hours on June 6th and Miles Wagner who flew a CG-4A Waco glider in the lead formation landing at 3.45 hours on D- Day.

The two companion prints are "Into Battle"  C-47 Dakota's dropping paratroopers inland from Utah beach and "Crash Landing" a CG-4 Waco glider landing with troops into the beachhead.
