A Time for Heroes by Robert Taylor - Veterans Edition #12/75 three print set
A set comprising, A Time for Heroes Lone Gladiator a matted companion print and a second companion print Preparing for Action. A Time for Heroes shows Mk 1 Spitfires of 234 Squadron, which was 10 Groups top scoring Squadron. The Spitfires are returning to their Airfield in St. Eval in Cornwall after intercepting Luftwaffe raids on south coast ports in September 1940, the height of the Battle of Britain.
In the background is the imposing St. Michaels Mount a castle built on the tidal island to defend the West of England from raiders on the site of a Monastery originally dating back to the 12th Century.
The three-print set comprises the signatures of many of the best Battle of Britain RAF Fighter Aces. A Time for Heroes is signed by Bob Doe, Tom Dolton Morgan George "Grumpy" Unwin, Neville Duke, John Freeborn, John Squier, and Peter Meadway.
The matted print "Lone Gladiator" is signed by Air Marshall Sir Denis Cowley-Millings and Air Commander Peter Brothers included in the matting are the signatures of Peter Townsend, Johnnie Johnson and Harbourne Stephen
The third small colored print is “Preparing for Action" and is additionally signed by Mike Crossley and Mahinder Pujji,
