Channel Dash by Robert Taylor - Artist Proof with a couple of minor defects

In stock

This is a very nice Channel Dash AP print with a couple of minor handling issues that would be great framed. There are two clam shell creases about the size of half a thumb nail in the ocean, there is also an almost imperceivably very thin scratch through the top boarded that disappears on the print. These are impossible to photograph but they are there. None of these would be visible if the print were framed. The price of $695 for an AP Channel Dash print with original COA and brochure reflects the imperfections.

The battle cruisers Gneisenau and Scharnhorst and the cruiser Prinz Eugen with screening destroyers leave the French port of Brest through the English Channel to the relative safety of the Elbe Estuary.

The air cover for the fleet was under the command of Adolf Galland, the success of the operation depending on the air cover which was brilliantly planned and executed.

The print is signed by Luftwaffe pilot Adolf Galland, Gerhard Schopfel, Adolf Glunz and Kreigsmarine Captains Freidrich-Karl Paul and Gerd-Dietrich Schneider
